IntelliBricks STEM Enrichment and Lego Robotics Class Instructor

We are seeking mature, responsible, and outgoing individuals to become part of our team of instructors. This presents a fantastic opportunity for young students and aspiring professionals to gain valuable teaching experience to enhance their resumes. We particularly welcome applications from high school seniors and students pursuing degrees in fields such as Teaching, Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Art Studio, Art History, Museum Studies, Marketing, Business, Education, or Graphic Design.

  • We offer paid training with comprehensive lesson plans
  • Mileage reimbursement is provided
  • Locations include Auburn, Rocklin, Roseville, Sacramento, Folsom, Citrus Heights, Vacaville, and Lodi
  • Compensation ranges from $17 to $21 per hour, depending on the position. (Minimum work shifts are 4-5 hours per day, up to a maximum of 9 hours)
  • If the instructor is tasked with storing the materials at their residence, we cover the cost of material storage.

Although the main instructor/ Center Director holds ultimate responsibility, the interaction between the main instructor and assistant instructor should be marked by collaboration, mutual respect, transparent communication, and joint accountability. Duties and tasks should be equitably allocated, ensuring active participation from both the main and assistant instructors for the overall success of the class. Both instructors are expected to consistently uphold high levels of professionalism, adhering to ethical standards and prioritizing the best interests of students and the educational institution.

Instructor – Responsibilities

As an instructor, you are entrusted with a range of duties, with the primary accountability resting on your shoulders for the classroom atmosphere and the educational achievements of your students.

  • Classroom management – teach the lesson following the lesson plan
  • Help children with Lego building, SCRATCH Coding, or drawing depending on the subject taught
  • Safe sign-in and sign-out of the students
  • Setting up before the class and cleaning up after the class ends
  • Picking up and dropping off the class materials from the office

 

Instructor Assistant – Responsibilities

Instructor assistants support the main instructors by assisting with classroom management tasks. When it comes to decision-making, the main instructor is solely responsible for making decisions, and the assistant is expected to consult with the lead instructor and seek guidance from them.

  • Assisting the main instructor with classroom management
  • Help children with Lego building, SCRATCH Coding, or drawing depending on the subject taught
  • Assisting in safe sign-in and sign-out of the students
  • Assist in setting up before the class and cleaning up after the class ends.
  • Occasionally assist in Picking up and dropping off the class materials from the office

 

Center Director – Responsibilities:

Center directors, in addition to serving as lead instructors, are primarily responsible for storing all materials, including Lego bricks and laptops, at their residences. Unlike other instructors, they are not required to visit the IntelliBricks office daily for material pick-up and drop-off before classes. As mentioned in the benefits, center directors will be reimbursed for the storage of materials and for charging the laptops.

  • Must be available all weekdays from 1 PM to 5 PM.
  • Classroom management – teach the lesson following the lesson plan
  • Help children with Lego building, SCRATCH Coding, or drawing depending on the subject taught
  • Safe sign-in and sign-out of the students
  • Setting up before the class and cleaning up after the class ends
  • Providing a safe place to store the materials in the Center Director’s residence.
  • Charging all laptops and getting them ready for the next day’s class.
  • Checking in online with the IntelliBricks office every week

  • Weekday availability, as specified in each application for the respective position, is required.
  • Passionate about Lego and other STEM fields, including Coding, Digital Drawing, and Animation.
  • Preferred experience of 6 months to 2 years (depending on the position applied for) working with children aged 5 to 12.
  • Capability to effectively manage a classroom of 12-15 children.
  • Possesses an energetic and outgoing personality.
  • Demonstrates punctuality, reliability, and flexibility.
  • Must have access to reliable transportation (Instructors will need to travel to elementary schools and community centers in the greater Sacramento area).
  • Submission of a Driver’s License and Proof of Insurance is required upon hiring.
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check.
  • Able to lift up to 60 lbs.
